The Reel Thing Ball was the brainchild of John Carver back in 2016. It began as an enjoyable evening of reeling for 350 enthusiasts in the Hammersmith Town Hall and has since grown to become one of the most popular reeling events in the UK, with tickets often selling out instantly. Reel Thing events are known for the youthful ambiance, inclusive atmosphere, and great value ticket prices, combined with renowned reeling bands, including Supergrouse and Frank Reid, and, since 2021, star performances by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers at the annual Reel Thing Grand Ball! In 2019, the autumn event moved to Battersea Arts Centre, welcoming over 450 guests from across the UK.
Together with John Carver, a small but enthusiastic Reel Thing Committee keeps the show on the road and is delighted to be bringing several London-based events to the calendar in 2024: a new reeling Ball for teens in April, a “Spring Fling” Extravaganza at Porchester Hall and of course the biggest event of the year will the Ring Thing Ball returning to Battersea on Friday 8th November 2024.
